Don't forget me

At Stuttgart‘s main station is the Klett-Passage, a passage underground, in wich four exhibition cubes are installed. Inside one of them, clothes are cliped on a clothesline. On the floor lie smaller ojects like a shoe, handkerchiefs , a bill. On first glance, it seems that the artist has collected these things arbitrarily. But the title gives a hint. The work „Don‘t forget me“ is an installation of passengers‘ lost property found in the subway.
Min Seob Ji initiates a dialog with the passersby: each one of them could be the owner of these objects and could be delighted to find a lost item. However, these objects are presented as an art work, so that only a discursive appropriation would be possible for the lucky finder. For others the exhibited work could provoke associations and evocative memories. For children who come by the clothes could be the starting point for a story.
Cultural differences and philosophical reflections often play a major role in Min Soeb Ji‘s work although these might not be explicit. His work is deliberately open and might surprise the viewer with its communicative potential. Just like the famous butterfly effect in the chaos theory: a simple flap of the butterfly‘s wing might cause a storm at the other end of the world... (from the PR Text in the exhibition)
